Extended Life Oil Filters
Royal
Purple oil filters provide superior particle removal, high-performance
and optimized flow characteristics for maximum performance and longer
filter life.
Each Filter features:
- Royal Purple’s filter media uses the latest technology filtration system that filters out particles as small as 25 microns.
- 100% synthetic micro-glass media for superior particle removal with 99% filtration efficiency at 25 microns.
- A high-performance silicone anti-drain back valve that prevents dry starts, even in extreme conditions.
- An extra heavy-duty rubber base gasket that ensures a leak-free seal.
- Ultra-strength filter housing endures higher burst strength than conventional filters.
Performance Advantages
1. Shell
Thicker shell material for extra strength. The heavier shell provides extra security against puncture from road debris.
2. Filter Element
100% screen-backed synthetic media provides superior filtration while keeping flow restriction low.
3. Steel Backplate
Heavy gauge steel allows for higher burst strength.
4. Metal End-Caps
Provides positive seal for filter element assembly.
5. Metal Center Tube
A center tube with metal construction prevents filter element collapse.
6. By-Pass Valve
The by-pass valve is designed to insure oil flow in situations of excessive filter element flow restriction.
7. Silicone Anti-Drain Back Valve
Prevents
dry starts by eliminating oil drain back during shutdown through the
use of a silicone anti-drain back valve. Silicone outperforms and
outlasts standard nitrile rubber in both extreme cold and hot oil
temperatures.
8. Gasket
Premium nitrile rubber with special lubricity compound reduces torque during installation and removal.

Built like a tank
By Troy Price
Expensive, but you can get 10k miles out of it easy.
It has
the heftiest metal casing I've ever seen, the spring inside for the
bypass valve is thick, the rubber gasket is thick, it's oversized
compared to most oil filters, and it has micro-glass synthetic
filtration that's backed with wire mesh so it will hold up for a long
time. Basically it's a perfect filter for extended drains.
It
doesn't filter as efficiently down to the smaller microns (20 or less)
compared to the Purolator PureOne oil filter (which uses a micro-glass
synthetic/paper combo); but the Royal Purple filter is built better, it
will last longer, and it will also flow better then the PureOne.

The perfect filter for RP oil.
By Native Texan
If you're going to spend the money to use RP oil then you may as well use a quality RP oil filter as well.
You can use this filter with any brand of oil if you're just looking for a very good performance oil filter.

Best filter on the market
By David G
With out question the best filter you can get. Any one with a
modular 5.4L V8 should be running this filer. Doesn't matter what oil
you run, you will get lots of miles out of this filter. I use Royal
Purple HPS 5W-20 in my 2001 F150. I check the oil often and I get about
10k miles before doing an oil change. I use to run another brand of oil
and still get 8-9k miles out of it. I know it cost more "right now" but
in the end its cheaper. I do 1 oil change a year. Cost me around $60
compared to doing it every 4-5k miles and costing me $40. You do the
math.
